Square Enix has released a new Sephiroth-focused trailer for the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Rebirth alongside new character and location details.
Though short, the trailer provides a small look at the game’s story and villain, with a tease for a showdown between Cloud and Sephiroth. The full trailer is below.
The trailer was released with a Square Enix blog post that details new characters, locations, and combat which is broken down below.
Cait Sith & Moogle
The first party member to be shown off is Cait Sith and his stuffed moogle mount. On his own, he deals quick, agile attacks that can be enhanced when he brings out his moogle. He can also provide buffs to other party members. When not in combat, he can hack and tell fortunes.
Yuffie
Yuffie uses a large throwing star for ranged attacks, and can use magic-infused “ninjutsu” when the throwing star is away that will automatically target an enemy’s elemental weakness. She can also summon a clone to fight with. In her synergy ability with Cait Sith, the moogle is sent forward with a ninja technique.
Elena
Voiced by Piper Reese, Elena is a member of the Turks unit of Shinra’s General Affairs Division. She is skilled in both hand-to-hand and ranged combat, and is sent to pursue strange black-robed figures.
Captain Titov
Voiced by Jonathan Lipow, Titov is the captain of the Shinra-8, a ship traveling from Junon to Costa del Sol that Cloud and his allies stow away on. He is respected by his crew and devoted to his duties, and personally emcees festivals held on the ship.
Starboard Junon
As an urban residential zone for Shinra personnel, Junon holds many high-end shops and restaurants, and is currently preparing for Rufus Shinra’s presidential inauguration parade.
Shinra-8
Helmed by Captain Titov, this cruise ship travels between ports in Junon and Costa del Sol on the eastern and western continents. A tournament for the deck-building game Queen’s Blood is held on-board.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth launches on Feb. 29, 2024 for the PlayStation 5, and is available to preorder now.
