Duke Nukem developer 3D Realms recently announced Realms Deep 2020, a livestream event showcasing a number of new games and updates on existing ones. There’s also plans for a charity drive in collaboration with Child’s Play, as well as many special guests like video game designer Cliff Bleszinski and id Software co-founder John Romero.
The presentation’s trailer promises over 20 new games to be showcased, and publishers like New Blood Interactive or Nightdive Studios are set to their projects. The main focus of the livestream is on indie retro first-person shooters, and 3D Realms promises to reveal a ” brand new dark-fantasy FPS.”
Many of the titles set to be featured are fairly small indie passion projects, like Dread X Collection and The Adventures of Square. Updates on bigger titles are on their way too, like SCP: Blackout and Prodeus. In this rather uncertain time, 3D Realms giving smaller studios a chance to showcase what they’ve been working on to a larger audience is something other large publishers will hopefully notice and emulate in the future.
“Realms Deep 2020 gives us the chance to highlight what we’re working on while showcasing all the badass projects our friends are cooking up,” said 3D Realms Vice President Frederik Schreiber. “It’s been a strange year, but we want to treat this as an awesome casual hangout with our fans and friends.”
Realms Deep 2020 airs from September 5 to 6 on 3D Realm’s official Twitch channel, and a special Steam sale will be held from September 3 to September 7. Viewers will be able to donate on stream or purchase physical merchandise, and all proceeds will go to charitable organization Child’s Play.
