If you’re into announcements, this one will blow your mind. 2K United Kingdom has announced that next week they’ll announce the launch of Mafia III. Joking aside, 2K UK tweeted very recently that they’ll be revealing Mafia III next week, which happens to be the week of Gamescom.

In addition to the tweet, the official website of Mafia III reveals the developer to be Hangar 13, as opposed to 2K Czech who developed the previous Mafia game. Hangar 13 is newly formed studio based in San Francisco, and is led by Haden Blackman who boasts over a decade of experience with Lucas Arts. It was teased in December, 2014 that Hangar 13 was working on a next-gen AAA title, and it wasn’t until now that it was revealed what that title is.
Regarding the upcoming game, 2K stated the following:
“Mafia III is the next installment in the popular series known for immersing players into a world of organized crime through rich narrative storytelling and a beautifully crafted game world featuring period-accurate cars, music, and fashion.”
The big reveal is geared to happen at Gamescom next week, August 5th, so watch the trailer on the official Mafia YouTube channel once it’s up!
