Just this morning, 2k Games revealed that a new Bioshock game is officially in development. According to IGN, the new Bioshock game is being developed by the new internal studio, Cloud Chamber. Fans of the Bioshock series will have to be patient as 2k games announcement explained that the game will be in development, “for the next several years.”
Cloud Chamber is a new development studio based in San Francisco and Montreal. According to Gamespot, Cloud Chamber is a “collective of storytellers eager to push the frontlines of interactive entertainment by making unique, entertaining, and thoughtful experiences that engage the world.” The President of 2k Games David Ismailer also made a statement about the continuation of the Bioshock series stating that “BioShock is one of the most beloved, critically praised and highest-rated franchises of the last console generation. We can’t wait to see where its powerful narrative and iconic, first-person shooter gameplay head in the future with our new studio team at Cloud Chamber leading the charge.”
The person who will be at the helm of the Cloud Chamber is Kelley Gilmore, who has worked on both the Civilization and the XCOM franchises. Kelley assured fans that the new game is being developed by “a deeply experienced group of game makers, including many responsible for BioShock’s principal creation, advancement, and longstanding notoriety.” Gilmore will be the Global Studio Head of Cloud Chamber in San Francisco while the Canadian branch will be managed by Ken Schachter, who was previously the general manager for Zynga in Toronto and the founder of the Indie developer and publisher Trapdoor.
