$250 Halo 5 Pre-Order Revealed

You know how many gamers are hating the idea of pre-ordering games for mind boggling amounts of money more and more? Well, apparently Microsoft didn’t get the memo, as they have just announced that a special edition of Halo 5: Guardians can now be pre-ordered for a jaw-dropping $250.

Yes, you read that right: $250. That is just $100 shy of a brand new Xbox One. This collector’s edition, besides coming with the actual game, will include an exclusive poster, a uniquely designed steel book containing more goodies, a very limited edition numbered statue, and loads of additional digital content.

So here’s the thing: aside from the physical bonus items included in this edition, Microsoft have at this point refused to provide any details on what the digital bonus content is. Heck, we don’t even know what any of the physical items look like, and yet this collector’s edition has already been made available for pre-order. I guess you really have to be a slobbering Halo fan to sink so much money into something we know so little about, especially on the back of the post-launch fiasco that was Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Besides this ginormous collector’s edition, Halo 5 also has pre-orders for the standard $59.99 version, which will also include the poster, and a pared down limited edition that contains everything the collector’s edition has, minus the statue, for $99.99.

At any rate, the pre-order details coincide with the launch of the Halo 5 multiplayer beta, which begins at noon today Eastern Time exclusively for owners of The Master Chief Collection.

Microsoft are sure to furnish more details and images on the Halo 5 pre order items in the coming days, but considering the game won’t be available till the fall of 2015, it might be wise to hold off on doing any pre-ordering until you get a chance to decide if its worth preemptively spending money on another triple A title.
