For those unfamiliar with the event, Summer Games Done Quick is an annual event where various professional speedrunners showcase their skills by attempting speedruns of different games in a wide variety of categories. Categories include typical any% runs where runners exploit any and all glitches and bugs in the game to reach the credits as fast as possible, as well 100% completionist runs, special randomizer runs, and head to head races against other runners. Watchers are able to donate during any of these runs in order to influence certain runs, and contribute towards extra incentives. All donations go to the year’s chosen charity, with this year being Doctors Without Borders
Some of this year’s notable runs include:
A Resident Evil 7: Biohazard any% new game easy race between KatLink and CaptainEzekiel – July 6
A GeoGuessr speedrun where the runner Havrd is aiming for a perfect score – July 7
A Pokémon Black/White race between PulseEffects and Swiftalu – July 8
A Destiny 2 speedrun of the Deep Stone Crypt raid with Shockwve, MunchaKoopas, Tokeegee, Traderkirk, Scoobyfoo and BystanderTim – July 8
A blindfolded Super Mario 64 70-star run by Bubzia – July 10
