The Nintendo Switch has been flying off the shelves since it was released in 2019. The console has been a massive success and led Nintendo to develop multiple different models that fans may choose to purchase. These additions and overall popularity have resulted in the Nintendo Switch becoming the fourth most sold console of all time in the United States.
According to date by the NPD Group, the Nintendo Switch passed the Playstation 4 to become the fourth most sold console in U.S. history. Although the console hasn’t beat out Playstation 4 sales across the entire world, that could be coming soon as well. Globally, the Nintendo Switch has reached an all-time sales number of 107 million consoles sold. This number is expected to increase significantly over the next year as Sony is expecting the console to sell roughly 21 million more units throughout 2022.
This development should not be too big of a surprise to fans since Nintendo has consistently added more games, updates, and overall content to the console. Nintendo has even been diligent to include more content to the games that are already incredibly popular in their community. Games such as Mario Kart have included more content that will keep fans interested and even bring in more players to the Nintendo community.
As the Nintendo Switch continues to break records within the United States, no one should be surprised if the console continues to grow globally as well. Since the Nintendo Switch is still selling at a high volume, no one should be too surprised to see the console continue to climb the ladder on all-time rankings. In fact, the Switch could potentially beat out the highest selling gaming device of all time, the Playstation 2. With a total of 155 million consoles sold, the Playstation 2 could be surpassed by the Nintendo Switch for the most sold console of all time within a few years of high sales.
