A new trailer dropped yesterday during DC Fandome for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. If the title alone isn’t selling you then the game’s new trailer just might. Major spoilers ahead for the Batman: Arkham series.
After the game’s reveal over a year ago, DC has finally divulged a slew of new information in the latest trailer, including designs for some more members of the justice league. We’ve already seen the Superman, but now three more heroes have been added to the hit-list: Green Lantern (the John Stewart version), the Flash and Wonder Woman. These three are some of the best examples of just how insanely powerful the justice league really is, but there’s definitely a larger threat at play.
Fans of Injustice 2 should remember Brainiac, a legacy superman villain infamous for his powerful mind-control abilities and enormous killer robots. This wouldn’t be the first time, or even the first game featuring Brainiac mind-controlling members of the justice league, and the newest trailer already shows off all the tell-tale signs: large, gross, purple veins around the eyes and a fresh new take on sowing chaos throughout the streets. However, it’s hard to say whether or not Brainiac has managed to take over every member of the league. Wonder Woman’s eyes are constantly obstructed in the trailer and someone wielding a shield is shown fighting back against Superman. Unless Captain America has been added to the game, Wonder Woman is the only character in the game who uses a shield in battle (not to mention the only character possibly capable of going toe-to-toe with the man-of-steel himself), insinuating that she’s managed to avoid getting Braniac’d.
There are even more secrets to find in the new Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, but fans of the Batman: Arkham series should turn back now if they haven’t finished Batman: Arkham Knight. The game’s developers have confirmed that Suicide Squad is a continuation of the Arkham universe as IGN reports, which has some pretty huge implications on the game’s story.
Final spoiler warning for Batman: Arkham Knight. By the end of Arkham Knight, Batman is forced to activate knightfall protocol: a massive explosion that destroys the Batcave and supposedly Batman inside of it. However, fans have heavily speculated that Batman simply faked his death to prowl Gotham’s streets without the shackles of his life as Bruce Wayne, and the new Suicide Squad trailer implies that the dark knight does indeed live on. The titular bat-mobile is clearly shown in the trailers, albeit with a far different design, implying that Batman is also in the game. If this takes place after Arkham Knight, it may just be confirmation that Batman’s death in Arkham Knight was indeed fake and that he too will be one of the Suicide Squad’s targets. However, this is mainly speculation, so take all this with a grain of salt. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League releases 2022. You can watch the full trailer below.
