New gameplay was showcased Wednesday night during The King Of Fighters 15 special program stream at the Tokyo Game Show. Game developers showed their previous story trailer that was released a few weeks ago during Gamescom. The new character, Isla, was shown in her own video as well. One of the main characters in the game, Isla is considered a rival to Shun’ei, the other main character of The King Of Fighters 15. The spray painting brawler also sports similar “phantom hands” like Shun’ei does in combat.

The SNK developers surprised fans with the announcement of an update to The King Of Fighters ’98: Ultimate Match Final Edition on Steam. Coming with this update in the winter will be a complete overhaul of the game’s online capabilities. The patch will include rollback netcode and will have a beta test for players to try out online battles.

This comes after the update of Garou: Mark of the Wolves‘ netcode, hinting that other games in the King Of Fighters series may also receive updates for online play in the future. The stream concluded with a short tournament between past King Of Fighters players such as King Of Fighters ’98 player, “Dune.”

Fans have been craving to see more gameplay from this game since it was first announced to be in development in 2019. The new gameplay showcased the three-versus-three combat between various characters from the series.

The King Of Fighters is a fighting game series developed by SNK. The series has received more attention from gamers due to Terry Bogard’s DLC release in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. The latest game in the series, King Of Fighters 15 is set to be released on Playstation 4/5, Xbox Series X/S and on PC. The game will cost $59.99 along with the option for a $29.99 Team Pass which will include two future DLC teams composed of six characters.
