On July 29, New Pokémon Snap announced an upcoming free update that will introduce new Pokémon, new behaviors, new areas, and a huge new feature! The new update will introduce three new areas to the Lental Region: the Barren Badlands, the Mightywide River, and the Secret Side Path. The Barren Badlands on Voluca Island is a dry and hot mountainous region filled with poisonous swamps and secret caves. The trailer even features an Onyx, doing its rock-snake thing and weaving out of one of the caverns. The Mightywide River on Belusylva Island will have the player spiraling down a course of rapids, trying to capture the Pokémon that soak in the river or sunbathe on its banks.
And the Secret Side Path deserves its own paragraph. The Secret Side Path will be an addition to the nature park on Florio Island and will have players drive along a path filled to the brim with Bug-type Pokémon and other critters that would live in the forest. However, the Secret Side Path comes with a massive new feature – or should I say a very, very small new feature. When players enter the Secret Side Path their NEO-ONE will shrink down, and all of the Pokémon on the path will look incredibly large. The game developers at New Pokémon Snap have even said that players might be able to, “hear [Pokémon] breathing and footsteps in this thrilling area…” So buckle up and get ready to experience a sliver of what life is like for a wandering Caterpie!
But if breathing Wurmples aren’t enough for you, fear not! The upcoming New Pokémon Snap update will also come with the release of twenty new Pokémon! While the game developers have yet to announce what the new Pokémon will be, players have gotten a glimpse at a few upcoming Pokémon through the update’s trailer, such as Gyarados and Snorlax. The new update will also come with new behaviors for previously released Pokémon.
And the best part of it all: the update is completely free! Players will be able to download the new content onto their version of New Pokémon Snap on August 3rd and gain access to all of the new worlds and Pokémon. So hop in your NEO-ONE, get your clicking fingers ready, and dive into a whole new world of Pokémon photography!
