A sequel to acclaimed Jurassic World Evolution has been slated for a release in 2021, as announced by Jurassic Park actor Jeff Goldblum, who also voices a character in the upcoming game. The announcement trailer was also released alongside during the Summer Game Fest, hosted by Geoff Keighley of The Game Awards fame.
Jurassic World Evolution 2 by Frontier Developments will follow the gameplay of the first game but will be set immediately after the movie Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Like the original, it will be a park building simulator, with the player designing their own personal Jurassic Park. The first game, however, was released in 2018, and Jurassic World Evolution 2 promises updated graphics and interactions between the dinosaurs, new terrains and biomes, and new species (including flying and marine dinosaurs). The player can choose to build their own park, or assist with the aftermath of Fallen Kingdom. The game also boasts a new game mode in “Chaos Theory,” where players will be able to recreate iconic scenes from the movies with themselves in charge, just to see how the outcomes of the situations change with different variables.
The game, whose price tag has not yet been released, will be available for purchase later in 2021 on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Ratings for the first game on Steam were very positive, and its success and high regard will hopefully carry on into the second game. At the very least, Frontier Developments will hopefully be releasing a game that is fully updated on the aquatic status of the Spinosaurus and will feature many dinosaurs that are not seen as much in the limelight as the iconic T-Rex and Triceratops. This sequel to the highly successful Jurassic World Evolution will prove that the wonder of dinosaurs continues to have a secure place in the future.
