Creative Assembly has announced the next entry in their Total War franchise, and this time it’s going to be a full-fledged sequel. The company has officially revealed Total War: WARHAMMER III, and it’s launching sometime this year on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. As opposed to the usual historical accuracy that the Total War series is known for, WARHAMMER instead takes place in Game Workshops tabletop high fantasy setting, complete with fictional factions and countries, and an original story to boot. We also got a reveal trailer that showcases the massive battles that will take place.

Sega, Creative Assembly’s publisher, stated in a press release that the game will debut two new factions, the Kislev and the Cathay, both of which will bring some unique facets to the battlefield. Factions from previous entries will also be returning which includes the Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh, and Tzeentch. There will also be a vast array of monsters, legendary heroes, flying creatures, and more. Sega also briefly detailed the story in the release, saying that the player will “Be tasked with saving or exploiting the power of a dying god. Each race offers a unique journey through the nightmarish Chaos Realm, culminating in an endgame that will determine the fate of the world.”
This will be the first Total War: WARHAMMER in nearly four years, with the last entry releasing in Summer 2017. As we already mentioned, this series is a mashup of two different franchises, Creative Assembly’s Total War and Game Workshop’s WARHAMMER which in and of itself is a fictional universe that is utilized in many of their own titles, including the popular Warhammer: Vermintide 2. The first Total War: WARHAMMER was released in 2016 while the sequel, the aforementioned Total War: WARHAMMER II, launched in 2017. Both titles were generally well-received, with reviewers praising the excellent combination of both franchises.
With the promise of a bigger and better campaign, and a much larger battlefield landscape, we can’t wait to hear more about Total War: WARHAMMER III, and hopefully, we get a release date soon. Total War: WARHAMMER III will officially launch this year on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
