A new next-gen console is going viral over the internet. Kentucky Fried Chicken has announced its first gaming console: the KFConsole. And no, this isn’t an elaborate joke. With the help of Cooler Master, Colonel Sanders is putting Microsoft and Sony to shame. The highly-anticipated console will even come with its own built-in Chicken Chamber — offering a feature gamers didn’t even know they needed.
The KFConsole was revealed after weeks of promises from the KFCGaming Twitter account. The reveal video was shared with the eagerly-awaiting public. Cooler Master teamed up with the fast-food chain, building and designing the KFConsole. The team provided a custom Cooler Master NC100 chassis with Intel Nuc 9 Extreme Compute Element and a “hot-swappable” GPU chamber. The KFConsole will come with Ray-Tracing technology, 240FPS with up to 240Hz output, and 4k-quality gaming.

This isn’t the first time Colonel Sanders has dipped his wings into the entertainment industry. Last year, KFC released I Love You, Colonel Sanders! A Finger Lickin’ Good Dating Simulator. The dating sim had gamers playing as a promising culinary student while juggling love and business. Then in December, the fast food chain released the Lifetime mini-movie, “A Recipe for Seduction” starring Mario Lopez. The 15-minute movie followed an heiress who meets a young Colonel Sanders.
KFC isn’t the first fast-food chain to try out advertising within the gaming industry either. Last October, Wendy’s teamed up with Critical Role (a web series where a group of professional voice actors play Dungeons & Dragons) to play a one-shot session of the chain’s own role-playing game. The episode was DM’d by Sam Riegel, the show’s Director of Marketing, while wearing a full Wendy’s uniform. Following major backlash from fans over the episode’s blatant product placement and ethical questions regarding the way Wendy’s treats its farmers, the episode was pulled from the show’s Twitch and Youtube pages. Critical Role responded by donating sponsorship funds to Farmworker Justice, an organization aimed at improving farm worker’s lives.
So far, there’s no word on a price tag for the KFConsole and they haven’t set a release date either. According to TechTimes, “the rumored price of the console is around $2,000, but that is just a figure guess by industry experts as the console could be a limited release.” KFC hasn’t announced if the console will have a disc drive, but a previous tease from June mentioned it will have cross-platform capability and displayed a disc drive in the video.
