Out of nowhere seemingly, Nintendo has finally announced an event geared towards the future games for their Switch (after leading fans to the conclusion that nothing will be coming for a long time). The broadcast was recently announced to have a date set for July 20th (yes, today) at 10 AM ET. All together the broadcast will be about ten minutes long and show “the first Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, a new series focused on titles from our development and publishing partner,” including updates on a “small group” of future games announced for the Switch.
On 7/20 we’ll debut the first #NintendoDirect Mini: Partner Showcase, a series focused on titles from our development & publishing partners. We’ll share a few updates on a small group of previously-announced #NintendoSwitch games. Check out the full video release at 7am PT. pic.twitter.com/GbEbxVL6fD

This is not the first time Nintendo has held a surprise “Direct Mini” event, the one scheduled for today is set to be on a smaller scale than the one held in March. The biggest guess at the moment (also taking into account the time period between the actual announcement and the date for the reveal) is that the already recorded video has very vague information on the upcoming games, with the extra emphasis that they do not plan to reveal anything new in this time slot.
As there is no idea what games could be featured in this event, the comments of the initial tweet show interest from fans as many of them ask about No More Heros 3. Shortly after Nintendo made their announcement tweet, Rogue Company (a team-based shooter) quoted the tweet with a teasing implication that they might have some involvement with the event. This showcase, however, is not taking happening to replace their usual June summer presentation, which was canceled due to complications caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. According to a report made by Gamespot, that specific showcase is set to take place “late in the summer”.
