King, the development team behind Candy Crush Saga, is set to release a new Crash Bandicoot mobile game for Android and iOS. The title, Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! is a good representation of the gameplay, which is aimed to be similar to Temple Run. Players will swipe left on their screen to collect coins and avoid hazards. Footage of the game shows a linear path with all types of goodies and obstacles as Crash runs through the levels.

Doctor Neo Cortex, the recurring villain of the series, will also be the antagonist for this upcoming game. Players will be tasked with stopping him from taking control of the multiverse as they progress through stages and fight, enemies both of which will be familiar to fans of the series. The game’s website shares details on this play experience, saying “Make a mad dash through Turtle Woods, Lost City and Temple Ruins to take on classic enemies and bosses, including Scorporilla and Nitrus Brio!” Also, it’s not a requirement to play as Crash, with players having the opportunity to customize their own bandicoot. It’s clear that despite this being a longstanding mascot franchise, King is clearly paying attention to the popularity of cosmetics in gaming, especially in the mobile space.
This marks the second Crash Bandicoot game to be announced this year in the span of under a month. Back in June, it was revealed that Crash Bandicoot 4 would be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 2nd, with the series’ last installment dating all the way back to 1998. There is no established release date for Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! just yet, but Android users can pre-register for the game on the Google Play Store or the games website.
