Today, a new digital showcase was announced with 14 publishers participating in the event. New Game+ Expo (NGPX) is set for June 23 at 8:00 AM PDT / 17:00 CEST where developers and publishers will provide first looks at games, Q & A sessions, and more. Publishers and developers participating at the event include Acttil, Playism AKSYS Games, Arc System Works, GungHo America, Idea Factory, Inti Creates, KOEI TECHMO, Natsume, NIS America, SEGA, Atlus, SNK, Spike Chunsoft, Grasshopper Manufacture, and Wayforward.
COO and President of SEGA of America Ian Curran made a statement regarding the New Game+ Expo saying: “COVID-19 has brought with it many challenges, but also an opportunity to come together as a bold collective of publishers. SEGA is delighted to announce its participation in New Game+ Expo, a new digital tentpole summer event of 14 publishers, joining forces to create a one-of-a-kind showcase event that unifies a special slice of the video game industry.”
Adam Johnson, Producer of New Game+ Expo said that the event “is a grassroots coalition of publishers and developers. Organizing together for the first time, we hope fans have fun as we take a look at the combined lineup of games for 2020 and beyond.”
New Game+ Expo is just one of many digital events happening due to the impact of the Coronavirus. Recently, EVO Online, a digital replacement for the popular fighting game tournament was announced. Guerilla Collective Festival was announced. It’s a three-day event focusing on multiple developers. Ubisoft announced its digital event called Ubisoft Forward. The Tokyo Game Show was canceled and plans were announced for a digital replacement. CD Projekt Red announced Night City Wire, teasing they will be sharing more of Cyberpunk 2077. EA announced EA Play Live, a digital showcase replacement for their E3 presentation. GDC announced its change to a digital event after initially postponing the event. This year’s PC Gaming Show will be livestreamed. Microsoft announced Xbox 20/20, Gamescom revealed its plans for a three-day digital showcase, and while PlayStation hasn’t officially announced anything yet, it seems that they are getting ready to talk more about PlayStation 5 soon.
