Tonight at The Game Awards for 2019 Square Enix revealed the latest trailer for Final Fantasy VII Remake. Who is Cloud Strife, the spiky-headed ex-SOLDIER that headlines this exploration through the city of Midgard? This new trailer introduces Cloud and shows off his iconically standoffish, tough-guy character, flower girl Aeris, Avalanche resistance fighters Barrett and Tifa, and more. There’s also a glimpse of Sephiroth in his famous pose in front of the wall of flames. You can watch the new footage below.
The new trailer also shows a few sections of the combat system, with Cloud using his stylish Limit Break against the Guard Scorpion, the game’s first proper boss battle. You can also see the updated Stagger mechanic come into play during the fight. In September it was revealed that Final Fantasy VII Remake would include separate battle options tailored to different play styles. At the Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix explained that Cloud and the party can be controlled in Classic Mode, a battle approach that is closer to the Active Time Battle style of the original game. Final Fantasy VII Remake will also feature difficulty options to suit players who want to experience the story and not stress over their battle tactics.

The Tokyo Games Show also revealed a trailer for Final Fantasy VII Remake that shows off the Turks, the suit-clad Shinra employees that make trouble for Cloud and his friends at every turn. The trailer from September also showed off the powerful Summon abilities that the team can use in battle.
The original minds behind the original PlayStation One hit Final Fantasy VII are returning to bring this beloved story to life for current hardware, including character designer Tetsuya Nomura, director Yoshinori Kitase, Kazushige Nojima to write the expanded, episodic story.
Final Fantasy VII Remake will release exclusively for PlayStation 4 on March 3, 2020, with a PC release to follow in 2021.
