Focus Home Interactive has reached new heights with Greedfall sales this quarter. As reported by both Gamespot and Gamasutra, Greedfall sales exceeded Focus Home Interactive’s expectations and have turned them a record profit for the second quarter. This is a large increase in revenue when one compares the earnings that Focus Home Interactive made during their second quarter last year.
The company’s recorded revenue leaped to a 135% revenue increase from their second quarter last year, in which they made 22.5 million euros last year. This year’s second quarter made the company 37.2 million euros, or approximately $41.2 million. Gamasutra reported that the company broke records during the first half of this financial year earning Focus Home Interactive 79.8 million euros, approximately $88.4 million in revenue for that period, which ended in late September which is more than an 80% increase compared to the year before.
Focus Home Interactive’s digital sales had also increased to 84%. This is a marked increase from last year in which the company’s digital sales were only 65% from the first half of the previous financial year. According to Gamasutra, a large part of the revenue came from new releases, with sales earning the company $24.9 million. This is a rather large jump compared to last year when the company only earning $4.9 million in new release sales. The company also made a hefty profit from back-catalog titles such as Farming Simulator and Vampyr, which helped to contribute $32.9 million to the $88.4 million in revenue that Focus Home Interactive made during the first half of this financial year.
It is possible that the company may have a decent third quarter as well with Vampyr releasing on the Nintendo today. The company is also dealing with an ugly split with the developer Frogwares due to the deal between the two companies coming to an end, resulting in many Frogwares games such as: Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishment, The Testament of Sherlock Holmes, Magrunner: Dark Pulse, and Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper being pulled from storefronts. Focus Home Interactive has had a very interesting year and a very profitable quarter with Greedfall sales helping the company reach $41.2 million in revenue, making this a very profitable year for the company.
