It’s no secret that the minds at Behaviour Inc love to add licensed killers to their popular title asymmetrical horror game Dead by Daylight. This is apparent as the last killer was Ghostface from Scream, and the last survivor was Ash Williams from Ash vs. Evil Dead. And fans hadn’t really been speculating who or what the next chapter would entail as there really hadn’t been a lot of information. It felt that it would be another original killer and original survivor, but then some photos on Twitter began to surface from the official Dead by Daylight twitter, and weirdly enough, one of the Netflix twitters:

The first tweet was just a simple fanart of combing Dead by Daylight and some aspects from Netflix’s hit TV series Stranger Things, while recreating the poster for the second season of the show. Nothing out of the ordinary on a surface level, just a cool crossover and Behaviour is known for retweeting art and cosplays on their twitter. But when the Netflix tweet arrive showing only three images that, when using the right words, spells dead-by-daylight. And with both tweets being released on the same day at roughly the same time after accounting for timezone… fans knew what the next chapter would be for Dead by Daylight. And two days later, players finally got the first glimpse of the Upsidedown and Entity meeting:
Stranger Things and Dead by Daylight are finally coming together to create one really cool crossover.
The first thing to bring up is the killer. The ever consistent terror of the group of friends, the Demogorgon. The Demogorgon gets a few unique powers that are similar to that in the Netflix series. The main powers that it gets is its Teleportation, and its Pounce.
The Demogorgon’s Teleportation allows it to place down two entrances to the Upsidedown. It can only use this power when both portals are placed, and allows it to travel from one to the other. This does have a charge, and it does lose visibility when using it, but it does allow the Demogorgon to cover a lot of distance in less time than it would if it was running.
The Pounce power, is a specific type of lunge that the Demogorgon has. Unlike a regular lunge, where the killer has control over their momentum, the Demogorgon can only move straight, but it does have a wider range of its hit box.
The Demogorgon comes with three new killer perks: Surge, Cruel Confinement, and Mind Breaker.
With Surge, when a Survivor is downed with a basic attack into the dying state, any generator within a certain radius will explode and regress in its progress. However, this perk can only be activated once every minute or so.
With Cruel Confinement, whenever a survivor finishes a generator completely, any vault locations within a certain distance from the finished generator will be blocked for a certain length of time. This means that sticking around a finished gen isn’t the best idea.
And with Mind Breaker, if a survivor goes to fix a gen that is under 50% completion, they will suffer the Exhausted status effect. This Exhausted state will stay on the survivor for short amount of time after they’ve finished the repairs.
And now, for the first time in Dead by Daylight history, the chapter will contain two new survivors. Highlighted in the reveal trailer, two of Stranger Things’s main characters, Steve and Nancy, are joining the roster of survivors. And they both come with three perks, adding six new survivor perks to the game.
For Nancy, her three survivor perks are Better Together, Fixated, and Inner Strength.
With Better Together, when working on a generator, the aura of the gen is revealed to other survivors in a certain radius.
With Fixated, this allows survivors to see their own scratch marks whenever they run, and how long their exist until fading away. With this perk, the regular walking speed is increased a certain increment depending on the level of the perk.
And with Inner Strength, this perk is available in certain circumstances. When in the injured state, if the survivor cleansing a totem, the perk is activated. When activated, players can get inside of a locker and wait inside of it for a short amount of time, and fully heal.
For Steve, his three survivor perks are The Babysitter, Camaraderie, and Second Wind.
With The Babysitter, after unhooked a survivor, the unhooked player leaves no scratch marks and no bloodtrail for a certain amount of time. However, your aura is revealed to the killer, as well as the killers aura is revealed to you for that same amount of time.
With Camaraderie, when hooked and in the Struggle phase, if a player comes with a certain radius of you the perk is activated. Once the other survivor is close enough, the struggle meter is paused for a certain length of time. This has been a long-time fan requested perk, and it’s finally making an appearance after many tests in the PTB.
And with Second Wind, after fully healing one state on another survivor, the player can heal 100% from an injured state themselves over a specific amount of time. However, this perk only works when the player using this is outside the terror radius. When this perk is activated, players are also in the Broken status affect, so no one else can heal them.
And everything leads down to the new map location, which has been a central, if not the major part of the Stranger Things series: Hawkin’s Lab. The Hawkin’s Lab shows the underground facility that’s been highlighted in the show in each season, including Eleven’s sensory deprivation tank, the long hallways of the offices, and the peaks into the Upsidedown. It is the birthplace of the Demogorgon, and hopefully not the resting place of the survivors.
The Stranger Things Chapter for Dead by Daylight will launch in September 2019 on PC, and consoles. For more information about the upcoming chapter, or if you missed the livestream announcing it and talking about all the perks and powers, check out the video on the Dead by Daylight Youtube channel.
