Developer WaterMelon Co., is releasing a touched-up Mega Drive and Sega Genesis RPG on more than 10 platforms, called Pier Solar HD. Previous titles that have been Kickstarted are the 2010 RPG Pier Solar, and the Great Architects. Though WaterMelon mentioned on their blog, that due to the certification process being on various platforms, there have been some issues that has caused the game to be delayed yet again.
WaterMelon has submitted the game to Valve and was given a go for release on Steam. They mention about possibly allowing those who signed up for beta, to test the game soon on Steam. Though when they sent the game over to Microsoft, it was rejected mentioning that “Microsoft already evaluated Pier Solar as well but we failed some internal requirements on the certification and we’re correcting them for the next submission.”
Due to Microsoft rejecting the version of Pier Solar HD, WaterMelon plans to hold off in submitting the version of the game for Nintendo and Sony, until the process with Microsoft gets resolved. WaterMelon mentions that correcting the issues that Microsoft found, “doesn’t take as long as we thought.” Once Pier Solar HD is cleared on all platforms, that is when WaterMelon will have a release date.
Along with the certification process having issues, WaterMelon’s blog also adds some new updates, which includes new side quests, save system changes, new music, achievements, battle system, graphic enhancements, and a Director’s Cut that gives players the extended story and more.
The developer originally announced that they were aiming for a launch before the start of E3 2014, earlier this month. The delay was due to last-minute improvements, features and bugs fixes, along with also the certification issues. The game was delayed from the original launch window of March to April.
