One of the most wild and antic-filled racing titles with some of the most beloved Sony characters, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is getting ready to amp it up. This week will mark the start of seasonal events coming to the game with challenges and all new content. These updates will be completely free to any player who has already purchased the game. The Nitro Tour Grand Prix is here and it’s bringing a lot!
When players complete a Grand Prix challenge, they’ll hear chick and Stew from Crash Tag Team Racing and start to fill up their Nitro Gauge and earn Wumpa Coins. The Coins can be used at the Pit Stop to unlock even more characters, skins, karts, and customizations. This will be the first of a future full of Grand Prix seasons that begins today for owners of the game, who will be introduced to the new track, Twilight Tour. For veterans of Crash this course will look awfully familiar from the Egypt and Arabian worlds from Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped.
With the new course comes new characters to race as including Tawna Bandicoot, Liz, Megumi, Isabella, and Ami from the “Nitro Squad.” They will be unlockable with Wumpa Coins in the Pit Stop. Playing as old and new racers, players will be able to track their rankings around the world on the new Grand Prix Leaderboards. These statistics will track total victories in a certain season’s Grand Prix and the total Nitro Points earned.
The devs have already confirmed the existence of the next 2 Grand Prix events, though only the second has been detailed. The next Grand Prix will be themed “Back N. Time,” and will debut the Prehistoric Playground course that was inspired by the Fossil Fuel Injection track from Crash Tag Team Racing. And yes, even more characters will be on the way with Baby Coco, Baby T, and Baby Crash. The only thing that has been revealed about the third event is that it “stars a very famous purple dragon!”
