Ahead of the release of the Final Fantasy XIV Online‘s next big expansion, Shadowbringers, next month, Square Enix is teaming up with the Gary Sinise Foundation to raise money for, “America’s real-life ‘Warriors in the Darkness,’” first responders. The Warriors in the Darkness campaign began today and will run through August 14. For all those who donate to the Gary Sinise Foundation during the campaign, Square Enix will match that donation up to $50,000 USD.

All funds raised during the Warriors in the Darkness campaign “will go directly toward national and local programs that honor and serve America’s defenders, veterans, first responders, and their families 365 days a year.” Square Enix would state, “When first responders return to civilian life, they face physical, emotional, and psychological challenges.” The company would then continue with:

The Shadowbringers expansion for Final Fantasy XIV Online is set to release on July 2, and players will be able to “explore breathtaking new environments, encounter exotic new races, master exciting new jobs and more.” Along with the Warriors in the Darkness campaign, Square Enix is releasing a free trail for the game for new players to to try it out.
