During a earnings call for May of this year EA CEO Andrew Wilson had some choice comments about Star Wars Battlefront 2. The game had a rough launch and dealt with its share of controversy due in part to micro transactions and questionable responses from developers. Wilson stayed that the company “clouded what was otherwise a really great game.”
He did comment on DICE’s commitment on improving the title and stated that the title is now “a really strong game with really strong player sentiment.” A current example of the developers efforts to continue to improve and provide fresh content of the game has recently been revealed. Video game publisher Electronic Arts has recently announced that a slew of new content for the Star Wars Battlefront 2.
On Twitter, franchise design director for Star Wars Battlefront Dennis Brännvall outlined the new downloadable content within a community update video. The video shows off new characters and weapons. Droidekas and the Galactic Republic TX-130 tank from the Clone Wars will be making their way to the game. In addition to this Anakin Skywalker, the 212th Recon Division and 41st Scout Battalion troopers will all be receiving new appearances as well. Brännvall also revealed during the video that a brand new planet is currently in development.
He also stated that the planet will incorporate a “brand new way to play the game.” Although he didn’t specify what he means by this it will be interesting to see what the developer has next in store for the title. The update is set to release sometime this month. EA also is hard at work preparing their other Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order which is slated to release November 15, 2019. Until then fans can enjoy the new content coming to Battlefront 2 while they wait for the new Star Wars RPG adventure.
