French game development studio Quantic Dream appears to be teasing something new on the horizon. The studio, best known for their PlayStation exclusive games Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and most recently Detroit: Become Human, took to Twitter to thank fans in an end of the year tweet. However, in the tweet, the studio also teased “great news” is coming, telling fans to “stay tuned.”

It is currently unknown what news the studio could be teasing with this tweet. This could be the studio ramping up to the announcement of whatever they are planning to work on next. Though, the studio has been known to wait a few years between the release of their most recent game and an official new game announcement. However, the news could also be a tease similar to the studio’s “Kara Demo” in 2012 that would become Detroit: Become Human six years later.

This news could also be that the studio is in the process of being acquired by Sony. Studio head David Cage has not been opposed to the idea of Quantic Dream being owned by Sony in the past. Rumors have circulated about a possible acquisition since Quantic Dream began working closely with Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) for 2010’s PlayStation 3 exclusive Heavy Rain. Since then, Sony has published all of the studio’s titles for release on PlayStation platforms exclusively.

Quantic Dream had a mildly successful year thanks to the release of Detroit: Become Human. The studio recently announced that the game had sold over two million copies since its release earlier this year, revealing as well that the game is their fastest selling title to date. Unfortunately, this year the company also faced legal trouble due to claims of toxic workplace culture.
