We are only a little more than a month away from SoulCalibur VI’s launch date of October 19. Bandai Namco has been unleashing the floodgates of character reveals for the roster, with the most noteworthy being Geralt of Rivia, the guest character from the acclaimed Witcher series. However, it appears that the company isn’t done just yet, as they continue to add to the ever expanding list of warriors that we’ll be playing as. Earlier today, Bandai Namco uploaded a trailer that showcased the newest fighter, the long time original antagonist and fan favorite dual wielding pirate, Cervantes.
“Taste my power!” Cervantes, the Shell of a Proud Man, returns in #SOULCALIBURVI! Watch this BRAND NEW trailer to see his expert command of his weapons, Acheron & Nirvana.

Then the video was pulled from Bandai Namco’s official YouTube channel. Apparently the company wasn’t exactly ready to reveal Cervantes, but it has since been reuploaded, making the announcement official. One of the original characters from the very first game in the series, Soul Edge (Soul Blade in North America), Cervantes was the first host for the demonic weapon of destruction, Soul Edge. He was eventually taken down by Taki and Sophitia, but was resurrected by Nightmare, the current and most famous host of Soul Edge, in the sequel game SoulCalibur.
In the trailer, Cervantes is seen using his trademark dual sword style, as well as utilizing his signature pistol sword. His Critical Edge has him unleash a two hit combo, then shooting the opponent two times, launching them into the air, and finishing them off with a corkscrew slash right into the ground. Its a huge relief to see that Bandai Namco didn’t make any unnecessary changes to Cervantes, as his style is more unique than most fighters in the series. As stated earlier, the game is due to launch in just a little over a month, so unless Bandai Namco has another reveal set for the 2018 Tokyo Game Show, this is more than likely the last character were going to see prior to post launch DLC.
SoulCalibur VI will release on October 19 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can check out the Cervantes reveal trailer here:
