The gaming industry is well known for being a male dominated field, and that fact itself makes it unnecessarily difficult for women to leave their own long lasting imprint. Recently, Prima Games, known for their Evil Within and God of War published titles, has announced the forthcoming of a their new novel, Women in Gaming: 100 Pioneers of Play, set to release November 6, 2018. The title is promised to cover the influential roles women have played in the industry, ranging from “high-level executives to programmers to cosplayers.”
Women in Gaming will proudly discuss the remarkable women who have gone unheralded within the industry, and it will feature pioneers such as the creative Jane Ng, known for her stunningly animated Firewatch trailer, and the brilliant Karisma Williams, known for being the Creative Director for Matiemo and for currently working at Microsoft as a Developer. The book will cherish a plethora of other women who have impacted the industry as well. Additionally, Women in Gaming will share the interviews of 100 different women who have each made their mark “in the fields of design, programming, animation, marketing, voiceover, and many more.”
The novel is anticipated to boldly bring attention to the numerous women who have helped pave the way for the younger women so that they too can become trailblazers within the gaming industry. Women in Gaming is written by Meagan Marie, who has personally had experience in “both the press and production sides of making games.” Marie now holds her position as Senior Community & Social Media Manager at Crystal Dynamics. Having obtained her substantial and credible amount of experience in the industry, Marie decided to use her knowledge and power to bring a voice for the women whose recognition had been dismissed. She sings countless praises about these genius women, and it is a beautiful act for her to dedicate an entire book specifically about these successful women and their countless accolades.
