Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo Switch was recently announced in an exciting fashion by way of a Nintendo Direct. It was confirmed at the very end of the presentation that the game will also be releasing sometime this year. Although this announcement was enough to get Nintendo fans excited, there is even more news to continue the hype.
Masahiro Sakurai, the longtime director for the Super Smash Bros. franchise has announced by way of Twitter that he will indeed be making a return for Super Smash Bros for the Switch. A translation of the tweet reads, “Right now we’re just at the stage where we revealed this game, but I’ve been working on this game in silence day after day. Please wait until we can release more information, or until release day!”
いまはまだタイトルを発表しただけの段階ですが、黙して日々制作に取り組んでいます。内容公開、あるいは発売できるその時まで、お待ちください!! https://t.co/vnfNUoGZ0J

Many were surprised about the announcement of Sakurai’s return for the new entry due in part to production on the last game Super Smash Bros. Wii U, taking such a physical toil on him. He stated that he was doing the work of multiple people while suffering from joint inflammation and pains due to the game’s but mashing controls and his own tireless work ethic that made some parts of the development process quite difficult for him.
There was no word on what exact position that Sakurai is taking on while working on Super Smash Bros. for the Switch but, whatever it may be we can hope that he will take better care of himself this go around.
