New York Comic Con was held this weekend, and in attendance for the show were Shawn “Solo” Fonteno, Ned Luke and Steven Ogg – better known by their GTA V pseudonyms, Franklin, Michael and Trevor, respectively. IGN’s Greg Miller moderated an incredibly fun and engaging discussion with the trio. Interest peaked when each actor was asked which character they would have liked to have done voice work for.
According to IGN, Solo said he would have like to have voiced Carl “C.J.” Johnson, the lead character from GTA: San Andreas. He followed by saying he’s not bummed about it, because him and Young Malay, the actor who voiced C.J., are currently working together on a project. Greg Miller pressed him to clarify, but Solo carefully dodged the follow-up and changed subjects.
GTA IV received two episodic packs: Episodes from Liberty City and The Ballad of Gay Tony, so it’s likely GTA V, with it’s uncharted commercial success and critical acclaim, will also receive additional content. Solo may have inadvertently disclosed said content, involving both Franklin and C.J. in some capacity.
Another possibility is that the two will team up online. Rockstar has made it very clear that GTA Online is going to receive consistent content in the form of heists and the like. A story arch involving crossover between San Andreas’ C.J. and GTA V’s Franklin would be an incredible opportunity to unite fans of each character.
