A new trailer for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Origins has been released, and this one introduces the Order of the Ancients: the assassins’ opposition and spiritual precursor to the Templars.
The Order of the Ancients is introduced as the real power in Egypt, power-hungry cabal of individuals pulling the Pharoah’s strings from the shadows. They cover their faces in elaborate metal masks, and according to the trailer, “seek the power of the ancient gods …when the Order craves something, no one can stand in their way.” While shedding light on the game’s villains, little was revealed about the game’s protagonist assassin, Bayek, beyond a few action shots of combat between Bayek and the Order. This trailer comes hot on the heels of a teaser released the day before, giving viewers a taste of the Order’s malevolent nature before fully introducing them in the above gameplay trailer.
The trailer itself is made from “actual in-game footage captured in 4k.” The visuals of the gameplay trailer are a glimpse of what players will get if they play the game on a machine that supports 4k resolution. Both the Xbox One and PC versions of Assassin’s Creed: Origins will do just that.
Assassin’s Creed: Origins is set to launch on October 27th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
