Just in time for Halloween, Netflix has announced the newest addition to their growing game library: The Conjuring: Unspoken. Those who are familiar with the franchise will know that the basis of every movie is a real life event, and this game is no different.
Rather than taking on the role of Ed and Lorraine Warren, gamers will play as demonologist Francesca Noakes. Noakes is called into the Cooper family home, where a grief-stricken family is beginning to experience odd occurrences in the centuries-old inn they just moved into. The daughters of Mr. Cooper have had toys go missing, music boxes mysteriously play on their own, and hear the voice of their mother whispering to them at night. Hearing their mother speak to them is quite normal, but the fact she recently passed away is the issue.
In order to get to the bottom of this and give the family the much needed rest they deserve, Noakes goes into their home armed with an array of tools to aid her on her hunt. Some of the tools she and gamers will manage are an infrared camera, spirit box, and an electromagnetic field–essential ghost hunting gadgets those who are interested in the trade will quickly recognize.
As with all the Netflix games so far, your phone is a vital piece of being able to play the game; players’ phones will serve as their controllers. Your TV screen will be your eyes in the home, it is where the virtual world comes to life. Your phone will be how you use your tools, for example, “The infrared camera allows you to see a thermal overlay of the environment while you’re looking for cold spots that indicate an otherworldly presence.”
Using your phone and wits, you will have to find a way to free the Cooper family from the hellish nightmare they found themselves in during such a sensitive time in their lives.
The Conjuring: Unspoken will be available to play on October 13, 2026.
