Suncrest Games launched a Nintendo Switch 2 version of their rhythm game, Maestro, where players can become orchestra conductors. The game features Joy-Con motion controls, where their gestures conduct the music. The game includes iconic classics throughout history along with music from movie and video game soundtracks.
The developers stated Maestro includes over 35 pieces with additional music content to be added as part of a post-launch DLC. Gameplay includes three set difficulties for players to test their skills on, a guided tutorial, and cosmetics to conduct in style. Some of the popular cinematic pieces come from Star Wars, Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and animes like Attack on Titan.
It is set in an Parisian artistic society, where players can set the tempo, cue the instruments, guide the orchestra, and lead the performance. An official launch trailer was posted earlier today, showcasing the type of conducting experience players can expect. There will be two sets of rhythm tracks for players to watch out for. One is centered around hand motions while the other is tied to the baton players wield on their right hand.
Suncrest Games stated that their first challenge in porting the game was that they had to create large portions of the Nintendo Switch 2 support from scratch. This is due an issue with the engine versions not matching with the plugin provided by Epic. However, the developers managed to overcome this challenge and bring a rhythm game sure to test the players ability to command their orchestra.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version will feature a higher framerate, resolution, and graphics quality. All of which can be seen in the trailer with the details in the conductors hands as well as the maps. Suncrest Games states the game will stay at a steady 60fps regardless of whether the Switch is docked or in handheld mode.
