Publisher DANGEN Entertainment and developer Black Seven Studios have announced that the 80s-themed story-driven action RPG Kingdom of Night will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch on November 5. A PlayStation 5 Midnight Edition will also be offered, bundling the game with a Night of ’97 avatar collection that includes 25 exclusive PlayStation Network avatars based on the title.
Set in the small town of Miami, Arizona, in 1987, the story follows high school student John as a satanic cult unleashes the ancient evil Baphomet. Players must fight through a night of demonic chaos to rescue friends before the town is lost forever to the darkness. The game mixes coming-of-age drama with cosmic horror in an isometric action RPG format that captures the tension of one ordinary Friday night spiraling into pure apocalypse. Players choose from five classes: Barbarian, Knight, Rogue, Necromancer, or Sorcerer. Each offers a distinct combat style, further defined through expansive skill trees, powerful loot, and unique equipment. The town can be explored freely, with Demon Generals challenged in any order. Massive demon lairs await discovery, along with the personal stories of Miami’s residents.
The full adventure supports solo play or two-player local co-op. Key features include the handcrafted Arizona town spanning quiet suburban streets, local hangouts, and sprawling underground lairs; a narrative that mixes teenage drama, 1980s nostalgia, dark fantasy, and supernatural horror; and the freedom to build a custom demon slayer while tackling threats any way you desire.
Kingdom of Night first released on PC via Steam on December 2, 2025. The game earned praise for its atmospheric mix of 1980s nostalgia and supernatural horror, handcrafted pixel-art world, open-ended exploration, character customization, and local co-op. Xbox Series and Switch pre-orders are available now with a 10 percent discount ahead of launch.
