Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo 7 has been trucking along quite nicely since its release in 2022, over 4 years ago. With support from its development team Gran Turismo has enjoyed consistent updates in the form of “Specs”. With Spec III being last year’s update, we’re now on the cusp of Spec IV which is due to come out by the end of the year. Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamaguchi took to the Playstation State of Play today to expand on just what’s in store for the upcoming Spec IV update.
Spec IV is going to be separated into two parts, with the first coming in October and the second coming in December. The update is going to come with some new tracks, the fan favorite Autumn Ring, beloved by the Gran Turismo playerbase, will be making its grand return for Spec IV. Of course, there will be new cars in the update as well: For Spec IV there will be 12 new cars added to the game.
Also, one of the bigger additions coming to Gran Turismo 7 is “family mode”, a mode where the hot wheels of the race track can cool off a bit for something more relaxed that everyone in the family can enjoy it, even little kids. More details are to come on the 3rd of October for the Gran Turismo World Series.
As Mr. Yamaguchi states, next year will mark the historic 30 year anniversary of the legendary racing series, and the Spec IV update for Gran Turismo 7 is merely the opening act for what is sure to be a big celebration for a series that’s been created with nothing but love and adoration for its source material.
As stated, Gran Turismo 7’s Spec IV is going to be released in two parts, the first in October and the second in December.
