2026 is an interesting year for gaming, with so many highly anticipated games on the horizon. With 10 years of buildup and 10 different triple-A games releasing in September, the gaming market is the busiest it’s been in a while. With that comes the pressure of a successful launch, as it’s the time you will have the most eyes on the product. It’s important to get it right the first time, and that’s where delays come in to ensure a successful launch. In an announcement from Moon Studios, the 1.0 update for No Rest for the Wicked has been officially delayed to March 2027, originally set for October 2026. The reasoning is that they need more development time to provide the best product.
No Rest for the Wicked is an action RPG that first launched in early access on PC on April 18th, 2024. Moon Studios later announced that the game would be coming to consoles with a 1.0 update, as the game has been well received overall, with many enjoying the 4-player co-op souls-like experience. The 1.0 update was set for October 2026. Still, in a post made on September 1st, Moon Studios announced they are officially delaying the game to March 2027, as the team is small and needs more time to fully realize the game they are creating and to offer an experience that satisfies both devs and players. With the delay, the team has more time to improve performance, tighten the class system, and polish.
“The honest truth is that we’re a small team, and we’re holding our games to a standard we won’t compromise on. We’re close, but close isn’t good enough for our full 1.0 launch. The extra time will help us improve performance, tighten the class system, and polish the whole game to the standard you all deserve. We’d rather take a few more months than ship something that we know isn’t quite perfect yet.”
Though the game is delayed, Moon Studios announced that a beta will take place in December for players to playtest the game, help improve it, and build a satisfying 1.0 build. Some other key notes in the lead-up to March: Anyone who bought No Rest for the Wicked on Steam before January 1st, 2027, will receive Founders Pack rewards as a thank you for the support in early access. The PlayStation pre-order will be available in January 2027, allowing them to receive the Founders Pack reward as well. And finally, they will schedule a wicked inside for players, with more to come on their social media.
“This extra time also means more closed and open beta tests in the coming months, which means you, our community, can get your hands on it and help us shape the final 1.0 build.
All in all, props to the devs for recognizing they needed more time to deliver a finished product in the best possible state and for deciding to delay rather than release a bad product. Moon Studios is on the right track and prioritizes quality over rushed products that tank all their goodwill, so props to them. No Rest for the Wicked is currently in early access on Steam and will launch on Xbox Series and PlayStation in March 2027, with pre-orders opening in January 2027.
