
Marvel’s Wolverine is a game that has been highly anticipated since the developers, Insomniac Games, first announce it back on September 2021. Insomniac Games was founded back in 1994 and have made renowned games, ranging from iconic franchises like Spyro to Marvel’s Spider-Man. Their success leaves fans anticipating the type of experience they’ll have playing as Wolverine.
The release date for the game is right around the corner, September 15, and a new trailer was posted on Friday, August 28th. It is a game features trailer, highlighting the Logan’s brutal combat style, stealth attacks, and genetic adaptations. One scene in the trailer showcases Wolverine severing an enemies leg before taking them down, revealing Logan’s quick and aggressive technique.
Liam McIntyre, the voice actor for Logan, shares a closer look at the game and briefly covers the Techniques and Adaptation menus. Players will be able to enhance Wolverine’s combat by unlocking special techniques that they can upgrade throughout the game to become a force to be reckoned with.
In the adaptations menu, players to buff Wolverine by unlocking a variety of abilities that allows him to deflect bullets, terrifying enemies, and much more to suit various playstyles. Along with the adaptation tree, the trailer reveals context into the game’s world. It is an era where the mutants are facing annihilation and Logan, with the help of Team X, must fight to protect their fellow mutants.
Locations featured in the trailer were Shinjuku Japan, Madripoor Island, the jungles of Telembang, and the Canadian wilderness. Logan is a reluctant hero that will travel to these locations to face off against enemy factions and iconic villains such as Omega Red and Deathstrike. Other antagonists of the game include Bolivar Trask and Cybernetic Raiders.
Marvel’s Wolverine promises to be a game rich in combat and story. A game sure to resonate with players long after they have finished the main storyline. Similar to the Spider-Man games, players will be able to unlock a variety of Wolverine’s suits to customize his appearance.
Players interested in Marvel’s Wolverine can start pre-ordering the game before it’s launch date. However, the game is only available as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. There has been no confirmation from PlayStation or Insomniac Games that a PC port will be made in the future.
