Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy just uploaded the game’s much awaited Story Trailer before its August 27th release. Developed by Asobo Studio and published by Focus Entertainment, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is set well before the other Plague Tale games: A Plague Tale: Innocence and A Plague Tale: Requiem, with the upcoming game focusing on an all new lead called “Sophia,” and her connection to the “Minotour’s Island” where, according to the game’s Steam page, she will “outsmart deadly foes, unravel ancient secrets, and confront a mythical creature at the heart of a devastating curse.”
The Story trailer starts with a group of people, watching a man plan a trip to Minotour Island, both Sophia and her blonde haired friend were a part of that group. Sophia follows the planner outside, before flashes of a full roman style coliseum, young Sophia hugging her dad, then burning ships while adult Sophia looks on in shock. The man returns to the planning table and tells everyone, “this key… is what we have bled for.” A doorway showing running men flashes by before Sophia and her friend, called “Leni” on the game’s Steam news page, make it to the island and use the key to open the doors to Minotaur Island, which houses “the minotaur’s treasure.” The doors show a huge upwards stairway, and at what’s presumably the top, a giant minotaur statue comes out of the ground.
Sophia wanders around the island, seeing ruined statues, old buildings, then a dead person’s statue as she enters what looks to be the famous Labyrinth that housed the minotaur in the original Greek myth. However, something odd starts unveiling as Sophia states that it’s like the island “was waiting for me.” She looks around the vast almost endless looking Labyrinth and turns to a statue of a dead person. Someone in all gold armour fills the screen and a huge hole with a golden rope thrown inside, before Sophia awakes from a “vision” of what seems to be the past.
Sophia and Leni wander through the Labyrinth walking past dead statues, then Leni is seen tied up trying to get to a collapsed Sophia. The trailer reverts to the two walking, before the dead statues start moving again, then the labyrinth itself starts moving, creating new adversaries as Leni and Sophia struggle to escape. Sophia moves past reviving statues, a storm and what sounds like approaching people, and landscapes to escape. In the last few moments of the trailer, Sophia seems to be infected by some kind of venom in her arm, as she walks amongst a now alive and corrupted island, that’s creating horrors in front of her eyes; she screams then the trailer ends. Not without noting that Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy will be available on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X and S, as well as Epic Games Store, and those interested can pre-order the game as well.
