Crimson Desert, by far the largest game 2026 has seen so far, has recently received two major awards. This news was announced yesterday on August 10th by the official Crimson Desert account on X. The two awards that the game received were Best International Game from China Game Innovation Awards 2026, and Best Technical Innovation from Develop:Star Awards 2026. Alongside this news, the official Crimson Desert X account gave their thanks to both the judges and their players, saying the following:
A massive thank you to the judges for this recognition, and to our incredible players whose dedication and support made this possible. Here’s to pushing the boundaries of gaming even further!
Crimson Desert released on March 19th of this year, and was in development for about seven years before that. With over 2 million copies sold in its first day, and over 6 million copies worldwide as of today, it’s quite clear that the game was anticipated and is played by many. On top of that, the game has certainly pushed the limits of technology with the sheer amount of content within the massive world it places the player in. With that kind of success, it makes sense as to why Crimson Desert has received both of these achievements.
Although it is still early, these two major awards could say a lot about later in the year during the Game Awards. Crimson Desert is, again, one of the biggest releases of this year. Even if there were mixed reviews on the game’s launch, Pearl Abyss, the company behind Crimson Desert, made sure to include patches and quality-of-life changes to make the game better than it was on launch. That effort has brought the game to a much better position not just mechanically, but also how it’s viewed by the players. With these awards as proof that the game has improved and become quite a big name in 2026, it’s very possible that Crimson Desert could be one of the big six of the 2026 Game Awards.
