When it comes to gaming, it’s common for a game to receive downloadable content that you can either get for free or have to pay for. And depending on the game, that downloadable content could be cosmetic, additional goods, or a full-blown expansion. And in the case of STALKER 2, we finally have the release date for their upcoming expansion, The Cost of Hope, which will be bringing all-new content such as missions and new locations to explore. Alongside the release of The Cost of Hope, the game will be receiving its 2.0 update, which will update the game’s engine and bring even more content. Both the expansion and update are set to release on August 20th, and you can wishlist Cost of Hope on your preferred platform.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl was originally released in November 2024 and was overall well received despite its performance issues. Then, in March of this year, DLC was officially announced for the game, exciting many as they were going to be able to jump back into the first-person apocalyptic world of STALKER. Details for the actual expansion are quite scarce, but what is known is that it will include new missions, weapons, and new areas to explore. Alongside the announcement, GSC Game World released a press release detailing information about the DLC. It is currently unknown how much the expansion will cost, but you can wishlist it now, and it will be available to those who have the season pass and have upgraded their game to the ULTIMATE edition of STALKER 2.

Alongside this new expansion, the game will receive its 2.0 update, which will bring new upgrades to the game’s current engine, Unreal Engine 5.
