WildArts Games has confirmed that Fright Train will launch for PC via Steam on September 15, 2026. The single-player third-person survival horror roguelite is developed by WildArts Games and published by Black Lantern Collective.
Fright Train follows Doug Barker, a paranormal special agent with P.A.W., also known as Paranormal Agency Worldwide. Doug is sent to investigate an anonymous distress signal coming from the L.R.S. Great White, a locomotive research station traveling through Antarctica. The train is owned by the secretive SHARK corporation and has been overrun by interdimensional monsters.

The game takes place almost entirely aboard the moving train. Players explore train cars, search for supplies, unlock rooms, fight enemies, and repair parts of the train while trying to stay alive. The cold outside is also a threat, as Doug has to keep the locomotive running while dealing with the creatures inside and outside the train. Gameplay is built around a procedurally generated version of the L.R.S. Great White. Players can gather resources, collect credits, purchase supplies from vending machines, unlock new cars, and upgrade weapons. Storms can trigger enemy waves, forcing players to prepare before the next danger arrives. Players also have to reach extraction points before the train changes again.

Inventory management is one of the game’s main systems. Larger items are shown directly on Doug’s body, and where an item is stored affects how quickly he can use it. Magazines and ammo boxes are handled separately, meaning players have to think about whether to load bullets into a magazine, place the magazine into a weapon, or save supplies for later. Enemies also have different behaviors, armor, and weak points. Some enemies can interfere with one another or create openings during combat, giving players a chance to use the chaos of the train to survive longer. WildArts Games describes the game with stylized 3D visuals and a B-movie horror tone.
