Fox McCloud, Slippy, Peppy, and Falco are back and received a major upgrade.
Nintendo is bringing modernism to one of their most popular franchises. Nintendo 64 owners and those who are old enough to remember the spring of 1997 are more than familiar with Star Fox 64, often regarded as one of the best games in existence. It is now getting a remake for the Nintendo Switch 2, something it has gotten twice over the years with Star Fox 64 3D (2011) for the 3DS, and Star Fox Zero (2016) for the Wii U.
The most noticeable change with team Star Fox is their appearance, they will also have new voice lines, cutscenes, difficulty settings, and an orchestrated soundtrack. Players will be glad to know that while playing the campaign in first person is absolutely an option, sharing the fun with friends is also a possibility. Grab a friend and hand them a Joy-Con 2 controller, or play together with GameShare. Missions can be played on challenge mode or campaign mode, both of which are available for multiplayer as well.
There are multiple ways to finish missions as well, so each play through can be as fresh and entertaining as the first time around.
Modernizing Star Fox means an online option has also been added with a new online battle mode. This mode is a four on four team based battle that can be played with friends or people from all over the world. Players with a USB camera can use their cameras to “play face to face” with friends, something already doable with other games. However, players can use their filters in Star Fox to take on the appearance of their favorite characters with “Fox-like ears, sunglasses, helmets, and other accessories over your camera feed. And if you use a Character Avatar, it will also match your head and mouth movements!”.
