With another State of Play in the books, we got tons of new trailers for all sorts of games, and June’s State of Play was one of the biggest ones yet, as we got an announcement of a sequel to one of the biggest titles for the PlayStation 4, Until Dawn. As it’s official, Until Dawn 2 is in the works and is coming in 2027, and we got an announcement trailer for it. If you enjoyed the first game, this looks like a proper sequel with a whole new cast of characters and a brand-new story.
Until Dawn is an interactive horror game released in 2015 for the PlayStation 4 that was a big success, and it later received a remake in 2024 and a movie adaptation. Well, the franchise is now back again with Until Dawn 2, and at PlayStation State of Play, we got an announcement trailer, and it looks to be building upon what made the first game successful. The game itself is a standalone experience with a whole new cast, story, and world to enjoy. It’s a modern horror story packaged into a single game, with your choices shaping the narrative and letting you pick who falls victim to death or survives Until Dawn. The story follows a group of ghost hunters as they explore an abandoned tropical island, funded by a big TV network. The ghost hunters’ channel is called Dead True, and it’s quite popular even though they fake everything and don’t actually experience the supernatural.
Until Dawn 2 looks to be a wild ride: you, the player, will shape the story with your choices, and even the smallest decision can cause a butterfly effect, changing everything as a whole. This time around, it looks like Firesprite will be leading us into this new title, as they are the game’s developers. The game looks very interesting, with its horror set on an abandoned tropical island where ghost hunters fall victim to a killer. Overall, a cool premise for a horror game. The game doesn’t have an official release date, only that it’s coming sometime in 2027, but Firesprite has said to look out for these coming months, as we will get more information and look at the game.
