Nippon Ichi Software and publisher NIS America have announced that Disgaea Mayhem, an action RPG spinoff of the Disgaea series, will launch in the west on July 23, 2026, across PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The game originally launched in Japan and Asia on January 29, 2026, under the title Kyouran Makaism, across the same four platforms.
Disgaea Mayhem departs from the turn-based tactical format the series has used since Disgaea: Hour of Darkness on the PlayStation 2 in 2003. Players take direct control of N.A., a mercenary contracted by Princess Tichelle to defeat monsters in exchange for payment, with Tichelle’s primary motivation being her “Pristine Gleam Flan.” The game’s story revolves around that arrangement. Combat operates through seven weapon classes which have been confirmed in promotional material: sword, spear, stave, gun, fist, axe, and bow. Players are not locked into a single class for a session. The Item World returns as the mechanism for improving equipment through procedurally generated floors. Reincarnation resets a unit’s level in exchange for stronger starting stats. The Dark Chocolate Assembly, a renamed version of the franchise’s Dark Assembly system, is where players introduce and pass bills to unlock advantages and new options. Prinnies and other monsters can be recruited as companions, turning into weapons to aid N.A.
A limited edition is available for $99.99 through the NIS America Online Store. It includes an art book, a digipak original soundtrack, an acrylic stand, an acrylic keychain, a collector’s box, and a copy of the game. The Nintendo Switch 2 copy included in the limited edition is a game-key card rather than a physical cartridge. There are also limited and deluxe editions on the official page for the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5, although some will be purchasable at a later date.
Disgaea Mayhem is available to wishlist now on Steam.
