Embark Studios and Rob Runesson, the now former Co-Founder and CCO of the studio, have announced that they have “mutually agreed to part ways” following public allegations that Runesson allegedly engaged in sexual misconduct with a popular The Finals streamer. There was also an external legal investigation on the matter that Embark claims “did not substantiate” the allegations.

These allegations, shared by an anonymous person, came to light around a month ago after The Finals streamer Balise read them on stream. They were later shared through multiple Google docs and across various The Finals social communities.

The person claims that they were in contact with a popular female streamer of The Finals and allegedly spoke to them about allegedly engaging in a romantic and sexual relationship with Runesson. According to the anonymous accuser, the female streamer reportedly was becoming increasingly uncomfortable with Runesson’s alleged requests for sexual conversations and favors. The streamer was also concerned about the potential conflict of interest that they presented but felt they could not push back due to becoming financially dependent on Runesson’s promotion of her streams. The anonymous person claims they eventually went to an Embark Community lead to report the behavior but was not made aware of any action being taken to investigate at the time.

The steamer talked with IGN and stated that a number of the allegations that have been circulating were out of context or misleading.

Embark Studios released a statement regarding the departure of Runesson:

“Our leadership team was recently made aware of allegations against an Embark employee. We take these matters seriously, and as a part of our process for addressing any types of allegations, we immediately hired a law firm to conduct an external investigation. The investigation did not substantiate the allegations, but we found the situation unsustainable and mutually agreed to part ways with Rob.”
