The upcoming Nintendo game Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is scheduled to release on May 21, 2026, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement was made as part of celebrations for MAR10 Day, when Nintendo revealed a new trailer and additional details about the game. This title will be a side-scrolling platformer and the next major installment in the long-running Yoshi series, following 2019’s Yoshi’s Crafted World. 

According to Nintendo the game’s story, a strange talking book named Mr. E suddenly falls from the sky onto the island where Yoshi and his friends live. Curious about the book, Yoshi jumps into its pages and begins exploring the different worlds inside it. Each section of the book acts like a chapter or level filled with unusual creatures and environments. Yoshi’s goal is to investigate these creatures and help the book remember everything about them. 

Gameplay focuses heavily on discovery and experimentation. Players can interact with creatures in different ways, such as jumping on them, carrying them, feeding them fruit, or using Yoshi’s abilities to see how they react. By experimenting, players learn more about the creatures and record their discoveries in the book. As more discoveries are made, players earn stars that unlock new chapters and areas to explore. 

The game will also feature puzzles and environmental interactions. Some creatures can help Yoshi reach new places or activate different effects in the environment. For example, certain creatures may create bubbles that allow Yoshi to reach higher platforms, while others may trigger plants or other objects in the level. These mechanics encourage players to think creatively and experiment with the creatures they find. 

Another twist in the adventure is the appearance of Bowser Jr., who shows up in several habitats inside the book. His presence hints that something unusual is happening within the pages, giving players a mystery to uncover as they progress through the story.
