A new roadmap for Marvel Rivals has been revealed, and it is heavily inspired by the Avengers films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The update plan, titled “Path to Doomsday,” will roll out several themed events throughout 2026, gradually building toward the release of Avengers: Doomsday later in the year. 

The developers shared the roadmap during a live fan event at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood on March 4, 2026 before posting it online. This announcement gives players a preview of the content planned for the months ahead. The idea behind the roadmap is to celebrate major Avengers moments while adding new modes, events, and gameplay twists to keep the multiplayer experience fresh.

According to the official Marvel Rivals X account, the roadmap is structured around the major Avengers movies, with each event taking inspiration from a different chapter of the MCU. The first event begins in April and is themed around The Avengers. According to early details, it will introduce a limited-time asymmetrical game mode centered on Loki. In this mode, one player takes on the role of Loki while a team of six opponents attempts to stop him, creating a different style of gameplay compared to the standard team-based matches. This event kicks off the larger “Path to Doomsday” storyline that will unfold across the rest of the year. 

Following the April update, additional events will be released every couple of months, each based on another Avengers film. A June event will draw inspiration from Avengers: Age of Ultron, while August will focus on Avengers: Infinity War. Later in October, the game will revisit the events of Avengers: Endgame. While the developers have not revealed full details for these updates yet, they are expected to include new modes, themed challenges, and possibly additional characters tied to the films they reference. 

The final stage of the roadmap is scheduled for December and will coincide with the theatrical release of Avengers: Doomsday. This last event will serve as the culmination of the year-long build-up, bringing the Avengers-inspired storyline to a close. By structuring the updates this way, the developers are tying the game’s seasonal content to the larger Marvel universe, giving players something to look forward to throughout the year while celebrating the franchise’s biggest team-up moments.
