Ever since Highguard’s reveal back at The Game Awards 2025, many were skeptical. Leading up to release, there wasn’t a lot of marketing either, which seemed rather odd considering how games are marketed nowadays. Regardless, Highguard had a successful launch with thousands of players trying the game out. However, the steam didn’t last, with layoffs at developer Wildlight Entertainment following the game’s launch. Now, a few weeks after some noticed the website went down, Wildlight Entertainment has announced that Highguard will shut down permanently on March 12.

“Today, we’re sharing difficult news. We have made the decision to permanently shut down Highguard on March 12,” Wildlight Entertainment wrote.
“Since launch, more than 2 million players stepped into Highguard’s world. You shared feedback, created content, and many believed in what we were building. For that we are deeply greatful.
“Despite the passion and hard work of our team, we have not been able to build a sustainable player base to support the game long term. Servers will remain online until March 12. We hope you’ll jump in with us one more time to show your support and get those final great matches in while we still can.”
Despite it being the end, Wildlight Entertainment has said that they will release one final update either tonight or tomorrow. The update will include a new Warden, a new weapon, account level progression, and skill trees.
“From all of us at Wildlight, thank you for playing, for supporting us, and being part of Highguard’s story.”
