Battlefield 6 has received a significant new update, version 1.1.3.5, which went live yesterday and is now available to download for players on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. This patch doesn’t introduce large new maps or modes, but instead focuses on refining core gameplay systems, improving balance, and addressing a variety of bugs and quality-of-life issues that many players have highlighted since the game’s launch.
The update reflects Battlefield Studios’ emphasis on polish and balance rather than major content drops. With Season 2 delayed into mid February 2026, these changes could help bridge the gap by refining existing systems and smoothing gameplay experiences across the board.
According to Battlefield Studios one of the central goals of Update 1.1.3.5 was to make melee combat feel more responsive and consistent. Both knife and sledgehammer attacks have been tweaked so that they hit more reliably and react faster when players trigger them, and sprinting is no longer interrupted for the full melee animation. Instead movement pauses only until the attack connects, keeping close-quarters engagements smoother and less frustrating.
Air combat also saw notable changes, particularly in jet engagements. The effectiveness of jet cannons against other air vehicles has been reduced so that more shots are required to bring down enemy jets or helicopters, extending aerial battles and altering vehicle combat dynamics. This adjustment has sparked noticeable discussion among pilots, with some feeling it nerfs jets more than expected while others see it as a necessary balance shift.
In addition to combat-related tweaks, the update implements a suite of user interface and heads-up display refinements. These improvements span the main Multiplayer experience and the battle royale-style REDSEC mode, with clearer armor bar displays, better reticle visibility, and cleaner menu navigation. A new option was added that lets players customize the color of their weapon and gadget reticles, which can help with visual clarity during intense firefights.
A range of bug fixes and polish have also been rolled out. Several weapon attachment issues were addressed. Some examples of this was the incorrect functionality on certain optics and bipods are now corrected and recoil behavior across controller setups have been made more consistent. The patch also fixes a strange exploit where vehicles could sometimes explode when performing takedowns on soldiers mounted atop them. Ladder interactions were smoothed out so players no longer get launched unintentionally, and environmental elements like firing range dummies can now take damage properly.
Beyond combat and UI changes, improvements target smaller but impactful annoyances. Certain gadgets now behave as intended when countered, suppressor shots produce a small muzzle flash when viewed up close, and visual effects like explosion shockwaves have been subtly adjusted. Stability improvements were made for Battle Royale and Gauntlet modes, mitigating intermittent issues like disappearing armor bars or incorrect icons in loot feeds.
While the changes may seem subtle on the surface, improvements to melee responsiveness, jet combat tuning, interface clarity, and long-standing bug fixes collectively make the experience smoother and more consistent across all modes. As players wait for Season 2 to arrive, this update helps solidify the foundation of Battlefield 6, reinforcing the developers’ commitment to listening to feedback and steadily improving the game’s core systems moving forward. For now we will have to wait and see what Season 2 will bring to the table.
