Frontier Developments has rolled out a substantial free update alongside the first premium DLC for Jurassic World Evolution 3, giving players both new dinosaurs and expanded creative tools to build the prehistoric parks of their dreams. The 1.2 Update for Jurassic World Evolution 3 contains new content as well as a variety of bug fixes and quality of life improvements.
The free update that will be available for all players include a fan favorite dinosaur and new types of brush and environments. The island generator will be getting three additional biomes to choose from, along with more adjustments with the sliders in controlling how these islands look.
Deinocheirus will be coming back to the Jurassic World Evolution franchise after its absence from the game’s release in October. This large, duck-billed semi-aquatic dinosaur returns to the game with the support of many fans that longed for its return since the previous game Jurassic World Evolution 2 where it was a part of the Feathered Species DLC that released back in March of 2023. This ornithomimosaur will also feature the new mechanic of breeding dinosaurs and having a juvenile design.
Another part of the free update is Wetlands brush being a new addition to the franchise. As stated on the Jurassic World Evolution 3 website “This new environment brush for Temperate and Tropical biomes paints your enclosures with new Cypress Trees and introduces an atmospheric mist that seeps across the landscape.” Along with this park managers who want even the most minor details in their park can now access a variety of Cypress Trees as scenery items.
The final and probably biggest part of this update is the new features included in the island generator for sandbox mode. The island generators create islands for players to build their park on so it was no surprise to see this getting some love in the update. According to the website Alongside the Tropical biome, the Island Generator now has three more biomes to choose from when starting their island customization, including; desert, mediterranean and temperate biomes are now available for generation.
A new beaches slider was also added to the sandbox mode, allowing players to manage the prominence of sandy beaches or cliffs generated on their islands. Your island can now feature more cliffs or more beaches depending on how you choose to design your park. Another feature added is the collision heat map. This heat map shows where all sizes of dinosaur can roam, as well as where your guests and vehicles can move around your park. The final feature being added to the free update is the New Blueprints menu and this feature allows park managers to see their own custom blueprints and the creations they’ve downloaded from the Workshop.
The big Wetlands DLC includes three new species of dinosaur to add to your park. Irritator, a fierce semi-aquatic spinosaurid carnivore. Austroraptor, a large theropod adapted to both land and water hunting. Hypsilophodon is a small, nimble herbivore that prefers lush swamp environments. All species include male, female, and juvenile variants, adding more life and behavior variety to enclosures.
Wetlands scenery features are also included in this DLC for the game. The description on the Jurassic World Evolution 3 website claims you can “immerse your guests with rusted barbecues, bug zappers, and shanty inspired buildings.” The DLC includes 13 pre-built blueprints to quickly deploy themed structures and paths, which you can also modify or expand your own. This pack significantly broadens aesthetic and building options, especially for waterside and wetland environments.
The Wetlands DLC Pack, released on December 9, 2025 and is the game’s first paid DLC, available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
