Just recently, Dmitry Smirnov, the CEO and Founder of VEA Games, and also the director for the game Nikoderiko: The Magical World, has released an official release update trailer with a director’s cut within the trailer as well, and he talks about the free DLC called Director’s Cut. The game was released on December 5, 2024 and it is available for purchase on PC through Steam, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.

Nikoderiko: The Magical World is a single-player platformer game that also supports Co-op as well. Players will play as Niko and Luna and they will platform through different levels that consist of different bosses to face. The main story of the game is the island has fallen under rule of Baron Grimbald and his army, and it is up to Niko and Luna to save the island from evil. Other than platforming, players will be able to ride different animals that they can find throughout the world.

Within the trailer, Dmitry goes over the design process for the game and also talks about the brand new and free update that comes to the game. The new update will include a brand new world with a new boss, a new voiceover in six different languages like German, French, Japanese, and Chinese. There will also be DRM for free on PC, and the game will be easier for kids to play, there will be a hard mode, and lastly new music from David Wise.

In the interview with Dimitry, he talks about how Nikoderiko is a dream project for him and the team, and that “it is a love letter to classic platformers.” The goal that the team strives for is they want to also be at the level of top-rated platformer games. The team also strives for feedback for their game and they take in player’s thoughts into consideration to improve their game even more.

Dmitry said, “We would like to give you an experience of a Souslike game in a family platformer.” He goes on further and goes more in depth about how he and the team made Easy Mode easier for kids and younger players– Dmitry had his kids in mind when they made these changes so that they would be able to play the game as well. As he said, “I want to transfer some memories, some feelings, and some nice times to my kids.”
