Back in 2022, it was reported that a new MMO game was in development based on the Horizon franchise. It was one of two multiplayer-focused Horizon titles that was rumored to be in development following the release of Horizon: Foribben West and Horizon: Call of the Mountain. One is a co-op multiplayer game and the other was a MMO. The MMO game was in development under the South Korean publisher NCSoft. We say was because that seems to no longer be the case. South Korean site MTN News is reporting NCSoft has canceled projects that is being worked on at three studios, codenamed H, J, and Pantera. Reports suggest that Project H was the codename for the Horizon MMO game.

MTN News reports that Project H has ceased development, with the developers previously tied to the project leaving NCSoft. According to the report, the developers that didn’t leave have been moved to other projects in the company.
With the development of the Horizon MMO, Sony and NCSoft announced a strategic partnership back in 2023. “Partnering with NCSoft advances our strategy to expand beyond console and broaden PlayStation’s reach to a wider audience,” then-SIE boss Jim Ryan said at the time.
“Like SIE, NCSoft shares a similar vision in creating high-quality, impactful entertainment experiences for players everywhere, and together we’re excited to collaborate to push the boundaries of gaming further.”
The project may have been part of layoffs that took place at the company in October.
The Horizon MMO was part of SIE’s live service push that seems to be slowing down following Concord’s shutdown last year and more recently, the cancelation of live-service games coming from Bluepoint and Bend Studio.
